TILT-WALL DESIGN

Tilt-Wall (also referred to as tilt-up or tilt-slab construction) is a cost-effective and quick build technique wherein concrete walls are formed horizontally on a concrete slab.  After the concrete has cured, the wall elements are “tilted” into place with a crane and temporarily braced until the remainder of the structural frame is erected and capable of providing stability and resistance to wind and seismic forces.  Tilt-wall is most often completed within a design-build relationship with contractors who are familiar with the techniques employed to provide a smooth, and defect-free exposed face of wall.

Brown+Kubican, PSC utilizes slender wall analysis technique to produce efficient designs which reduce reinforcing required.  We consider construction technique and phasing in our design and carefully coordinate opening and embed locations with our panel layouts.  We provide dimensioned shop drawings which layout openings, embeds, connections, and reinforcing.
